December Part 2: 80plus, Barcelona

The second roastery that will make us company this Christmas is 80plus. This is a roastery that we first got to try at a coffee-bar in Lisbon in 2019 and that we have been longing to drink again since then. 80plus is founded by Jordi in Barcelona, inspired by the gastronomical scene in Barcelona and deeply engrained in coffee, he is the third generation working with coffee in the family.  This is truly a micro-roastery, with a team of three working full time. We had the pleasure to speak with Anete, the Head Buyer of Green Coffee, Sensory Trainer and certified Arabica Q-grader.  Here you can get to know 80plus.   ---   Can you tell us a bit more about you,...

These two present some extraordinary coffees that we are very much looking forward to sharing with you.  Click the links bellow to access the giving interviews with the roasters as well as extra information about the coffees, and how to best brew them. - Elbgold - 80plus   If you would need any extra advice on brewing or would like to tip us about a roaster you'd...

November Part 1: MAN VS MACHINE, Munich

MAN VS MACHINE from Munich was founded in 2014 in Munich by Marco and Cornelia Mehrwald with a clear ambition to roast only the best coffee, and being almost too progressive for the coffee-scene back then.  Now MVSM, has an established name and their coffees are served in all kinds of settings, including the coolest coffee-bars around and even Michelin star restaurants.  In this short interview you will get to know them and their philosophy, and be able to develop a deep appreciation for their art. Sit back and enjoy.   You are two co-founders, who also happen to be a couple, did you both have experience in coffee from before?  - Only one of us worked in a café...

November Part 2: Three Marks Coffee, Barcelona

Moving onto Three Marks Coffee. Founded by Marco, Marco and Marc (who else?) Three Marks coffee came together when Marco De Rebotti and Marc Aguyé met while working at the renowned NØMAD Coffee Roaster in Barcelona, and Marco Paccagnella was a client there. Their wish was to create a unique and friendly place, serving really amazing coffee.  Meet one of the Marco's. ;)   You guys have a sort of a funny story when it comes to how you met each other. Can you tell us more about yourselves and how you decided to open up your own place? - We met in Barcelona, in a specialty coffee-shop. October Part 1: Manhattan Coffee Roasters

The first roaster out in October is Manhattan Coffee Roasters from Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Founded in 2017 by the coffee professionals and coffee champions Ben Morrow and Esther Maasdam that presented a brilliant line up of coffees and super friendly vibes. Manhattan Coffee Roasters is definitely a roaster whom you’d not only like to drink their coffee but also hang out with them! Luckily for us we had the chance to get an interview with Esther and get an insight into their roastery.  ---- How did you guys meet each other? Was it coffee at first sight? ;)- I was representing The Netherlands in the World Latte Art Championships in 2014in Melbourne. October - Part 2: MOK, Brussels

The second featured roaster is MOK from Brussels in Belgium. Founded in 2012 by the two time Belgium Cup Tasters Champion Jens Crabbé at the young age of 22, MOK was back then one of the first specialty-coffee places in Belgium. Running his roastery with focus on traceability, sustainability and with seasonality in mind, MOK is always true to themselves, roasting excellent coffee, and without surprise awarded 2nd place in Best Specialty Coffee Roaster in Europe this year. Here comes a short interview with Jens Crabbé, so you can get to know MOK a bit deeper.  --- So who are you and how/ when did you start MOK? My name is Jens Crabbé, I’m the only owner of MOK and started...

September - Part 1: Prolog, Copenhagen

Another stop in Copenhagen to get to know their exciting coffee culture. When we first started exploring our neighbouring country Denmark, we did not have many more than Coffee Collective, La Cabra and April in sight. But just like with coffee, the more you look the more you find and what we found - this time it's Prologue that blew our minds with their high quality coffee to say the least. But we take it from the beginning, in the usual order, with an interview with one of Prolog's founders - Jonas Gehl. How did you guys come up with Prolog and would you like to share some history of how it all started?Sebastian and I had worked with coffee...

September - Part 2: Doubleshot, Prague

We are specially pleased when someone from the club contacts us about a roastery they would like to see in a future coffee box. Which brings us to the next roastery - Doubleshot from Prague.
