We purchased this lot through our partners at LaREB. LaREB is a co-op of around 60 producers. It started by producers and is run by producers. They conduct quality control and help their members, especially those with small quantities, bring their lots to the international market.
They do not work with any importers or exporters and handle the shipping, warehousing, financing and the sales of our entire operation. Because of this, 80% to 90% of the profits stay Colombia.
Jorge Andrade is one of the producers that works with LaREB. He actually used to be a fruit farmer, and nowadays uses a lot of his knowledge from cultivating fruit to cultivate coffee, from pruning to picking.
This background, that's based in fruit, and not coffee, has helped him develop a unique style that you can definitely taste in the final cup.
